QR Code Ordering Without Replacing Your POS

Switching POS mid-service is the reason most restaurants never add QR ordering at all. You do not have to. Servyn Desktop runs alongside the billing software you already use and puts incoming QR orders in a small window that floats above it — your counter staff keep billing exactly as they do today.

Why "just switch your POS" is bad advice

A POS changeover means retraining every cashier, re-entering the menu, moving historical sales, and risking a broken service on a Friday night. Most owners weigh that against "we would like QR ordering" and correctly decide the QR ordering can wait. Running the two side by side removes the trade-off: the billing counter is untouched, and QR ordering is an extra window rather than a migration.

A 400x680 window that stays above your billing screen

Servyn Desktop is a Windows application. Its orders window is deliberately small, marked always-on-top, and kept out of the taskbar so it never gets buried under the POS you are actively using. Ctrl + O shows and hides it, and it can also be launched in orders-only mode so nothing but the popup ever appears.

What the popup handles by itself

A new QR order arrives with an audible chime and a NEW badge. From the popup a staff member can accept the order, print a kitchen KOT straight to a thermal printer, move it through preparing and served, and mark it paid. None of that requires opening the full Servyn dashboard.

What stays in the POS you already have

The final bill, the cash drawer, your GST filing exports and your day-end Z report stay exactly where they are today. Staff read the items off the popup and punch them into your existing POS to settle, the same way they would take an order written on a chit — except the chit is legible, priced, and already in the kitchen.

It keeps working when the internet does not

The desktop app ships the ordering app inside the installer and serves it from the local machine, with a local mirror of your menu and live orders. A broadband outage does not blank the popup mid-service; queued actions sync when the line comes back.

The honest limitation: two systems means double entry

Items ordered by QR are typed into your existing POS at settlement, so a busy counter does key the same order twice. That is the real cost of not migrating. It is usually worth it while you are evaluating — and if you later decide to bill inside Servyn too, the QR ordering you already set up carries over unchanged.

Will the orders window get hidden behind my billing software?

Does this work on a second screen or a small counter monitor?

Yes. The window is 400x680 by default and can be dragged to a second monitor or parked in a corner of a single screen.

What happens to the bill — does Servyn print it?

If you keep billing in your current POS, that POS prints the bill. Staff read the items from the Servyn popup and settle them as usual. Servyn can print the bill too, but only if you choose to move billing across later.

Is there extra hardware to buy?

No. It runs on the Windows PC your billing software already uses, and reuses the thermal printer already attached to it.
